Chemical foaming is achieved by adding a foaming agent to the plastic granulate. When the material reaches the appropriate temperature during the plasticizing process, the nucleating additive releases gas into the polymer melt. In the mold, as the pressure decreases, the pores expand, creating a uniform foamed structure within the molded part.
The main benefits of this technology, which contribute to cost reduction, include:
- reduced part weight,
- shorter cycle time,
- improved dimensional stability,
- and, in some cases, enhanced mechanical properties of the product.
